OnePlus is aiming to be the next Apple by concentrating only on one smartphone every year. This methodology not only costs the company less but also improves the end product in terms of features and quality. The OnePlus 3 was already a great device with so many features in one affordable package. Now, with the OnePlus 5, the game has been upped. The OnePlus is slightly costlier than the OnePlus 3 but it also packs more power, and it comes with great imaging capabilities.
The OnePlus 5 sports a very sensible Full HD resolution display with Super AMOLED technology. OnePlus calls its AMOLED as Optic AMOLED as their displays have been calibrated for accurate colours. The screen is covered with a stronger Gorilla Glass 5 that we have already seen on the Galaxy S8+ and the Galaxy Note 7. The OnePlus 5 comes with a dual-camera setup on the back, which is among the biggest changes from the OnePlus 3 to the OnePlus 5. The dual-camera setup has one 16MP colour camera, and one 20MP monochrome camera, which in the end will provide better details and colours. The front-facing camera is 13-megapixels.
The OnePlus 5 has monstrous processing power with its octa-core Snapdragon 835 chipset. The RAM and internal memory are jaw dropping too at 8GB and 128GB. The OnePlus 5 comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS out-of-the-box. The device uses Oxygen OS 4.0 which retains the stock Android UI, but it has a few customisations that have been done to incorporate extra features.
The OnePlus 5 has a 3,300 mAh battery which is 100 mAh less than the battery found on its predecessor. Also present is DashCharge, which is OnePlus s proprietary fast battery charging technology that can charge the device up to 60% in 30 minutes. The OnePlus also comes with some great connectivity options such as the newer and faster Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C v3.1, and dual-band Wi-Fi ac. The cellular connectivity includes dual-SIM dual-standby 4G LTE with VoLTE.
